How To Shop

Do It In The Morning
… Advises Michael Parker, our Global Sales Education & Development Specialist, because ‘‘your senses are more alert and fine-tuned after a good night’s rest.’’

Start Soul Searching
Fragrances are deeply personal. Try asking yourself a few questions like, ‘‘Where will I wear this – every day or for an event?’’ and ‘‘How do I want to feel? Glamorous, relaxed or holiday-ready?’’

Take Your Time
“My number one rule,’’ says our Senior Brand Manager, Fanni Varkonyi, ‘‘is to always test the fragrance on your skin for at least a day before committing. Testing it on a blotter gives you an idea of the general vibe of a scent, but every fragrance can differ from one skin to another, and they develop over time.’’

How To Apply Perfume: The Correct Technique

Layer First
…With our matching Bath & Shower Gel and Body Lotion. This is because ‘‘scent holds better on clean, hydrated skin,’’ explains our Fragrance Expert, Gemma Pinnock.

Spritz The Fragrance 20cm Away
Because if you spray it too closely, the perfume’s alcohol will, as Parker cautions, ‘‘numb the receptors in your nose resulting in an uncomfortable experience when smelling the fragrance.’’

How To Spray Perfume
One or two sprays of your Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette is enough. Then, allow the perfume to dry naturally without rubbing it in, or rubbing your wrists together, as it can break down the fragrance molecules and alter the scent.

‘‘Spritz the bottle about 20cm away. If you spray it too closely, the perfumer’s alcohol will numb the receptors in your nose resulting in an uncomfortable experience.’’

Where To Apply Fragrance For Maximum Longevity

The Key Pulse Points
We all know how to wear perfume on our wrists and neck, but Pinnock says spritzing your ankles will help the fragrance to diffuse upwards with your body heat to create a scented veil. ‘‘Other key pulse points include inside the elbows and behind the knees, projecting your fragrance as you move.’’

The Ultimate Accessory
Spray a silk scarf and tie it to your bag to leave an enticing, lingering fragrance trail, also known as ‘sillage’, as you walk by. We promise that heads will turn.

The Art Of Layering Fragrances

Our collections are made to be layered. Begin with the Bath & Shower Gel, graduate to Body Lotion and finish with a spritz of Eau de Parfum for a signature scent that lasts.

By learning how to layer fragrance from complementary olfactory families, you can also create a truly unique experience and make the notes work for different occasions or moods. For example, deepening your favourite light, floral scent with rich, spicy notes for party season.

Top Mistakes To Avoid When Applying Perfume

  • Spray perfume directly onto your body and not on your clothes or hair, as scents are designed to interact with your body heat.
  • Don’t treat your fragrance bottle as a decorative piece on your dresser or bathroom, as direct sunlight or humidity can change the composition. Instead, store it in a cool, dry and dark place, like a drawer or the original box it came in.
  • Don’t overdo it – just one or two spritzes on each pulse point is enough to make a lasting impression.
  • Fragrance has a three-year shelf life, so don’t hold out – once opened, spritz your perfume every day to enjoy your signature scent at its peak performance before it expires.

Experiment With Confidence

By following these insider tips on shopping, thoughtful application and the art of scent layering, you’ll start to get the most out of your fragrance.

Most importantly, don’t be afraid to experiment with different combinations from our collections to discover your perfect perfume routine.
